What is Library Outreach?

The Loudoun County Public Library strives to make all programs and services accessible to everyone. The Outreach Services of the Loudoun County Public Library is a resource for those who cannot easily access branch services.

What programs are offered?

Senior Visits:

Outreach Service visits Senior retirement homes, Nursing homes, and Senior lunch sites. Outreach staff delivers pre-selected and requested library materials to residents and care givers of these locations. At senior Independent living facilities, Outreach staff brings a variety of library materials in various formats. Residents choose from a wide selection of genres from old time favorites to current booksellers. Staff provide on site readers' advisory and assist in the residents' selection of reading materials. Requests for library materials and information not found during visits are taken and made available at the next scheduled visit.

Books-By-Mail Program:

Through postage free service, the Library Outreach Services mails large print books and other specialized materials to customers who are physically unable to visit the library due to age, disability, or illness whether permanent or temporary. Click here to obtain a copy of the Books-By-Mail Application.

Outreach Programming:

A variety of Book Discussions are conducted with seniors, similar to those at branch libraries.

Detention Facilities Requests:

Requests for Library materials from those at County Adult and Juvenile Detention Facilities are either faxed or electronically sent to Outreach Services and delivered on a bi-weekly basis.
