Dig into a prehistoric summer

Register beginning Saturday, May 16, and buckle up for a nine-week expedition! Early registrants earn free entry to the Purcellville Cannons baseball game Wednesday, June 17, and are entered to win two tickets to select Washington Spirit games.

From Tuesday, June 16, through Sunday, Aug. 16, complete literary challenges, see free family shows and enter our drawing to win one of 34 colossal grand prizes.

All ages and reading levels are encouraged to join — with activities for pre-readers, kids, teens and adults — so add your whole household to your online account.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. REGISTER: Create an online account for your household and add participating family members. Don't forget to pick up a complimentary, weekday child's pass to Great Country Farms at your local branch!

2. COMPLETE 10 CHALLENGES: Beginning Tuesday, June 16, start completing your 10 challenges. You can do any of the activities listed for your age group, attend a library event or read for 60 minutes. 

If you finish your challenges, you can earn up to two extra entries in the grand-prize drawing when you complete:

  • 10 Bonus Challenges: Check off one challenge each time you attend a program or read for 60 minutes (pre-readers can read 10 books for one challenge).
  • Passport to LCPL activity: Visit all 10 LCPL branches to collect the set of stickers in your printed challenge card.

3. ENTER TO WIN: By Sunday, Aug. 16, update your challenge card online. Once all 10 challenges are marked complete, you will be automatically entered into the grand prize drawing!

4. GET PRIZES: Pick up your free book and voucher for two tickets to select Washington Nationals games. Grand prize winners will be contacted by Thursday, Aug. 20.

CHALLENGES

View the list of challenges in your online account and on the printed bookmarks at every branch. Your set of 10 challenges can be a combination of the activities listed for your age group, attending a program or reading for 60 minutes (pre-readers can read 10 books for one challenge).

Spanish versions of the challenge bookmarks and challenge card are also available at all branches.

If you finish your challenges, you can earn up to two extra entries in the grand-prize drawing:

Global Prizes

After completing your 10 challenges, be sure to pick up your earnings at your local branch by the end of August:

  • A free book of your choice
  • A voucher for two tickets to a Washington Nationals game

The last day to use your Great Country Farms pass is Wednesday, Sept. 30. The Nats will release complete details in early June.


Grand-Prize Raffle

This year, the raffle will consist of 34 ultimate grand prizes in lieu of prize baskets for each age group.

In your challenge card, indicate your preference should your name be drawn. You can pick between the items below.
