New vending machine coming to Animal Services
Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) has partnered with Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) to install a book vending machine at LCAS headquarters. The machine will be unveiled during a public ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. LCAS is located at 42225 Adoption Drive, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Visitors to Animal Services can sign up for a library card directly at the machine and choose from about 150 books curated by LCPL staff. All pet adoption fees will be waived for LCAS customers who have an LCPL card on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31.
“We are very excited to partner with Animal Services again,” said Chang Liu, director of LCPL. “In addition to an incredible array of fictional animal adventure books, LCPL offers many pet care books for all ages that would be helpful to LCAS customers.”
As part of the collaboration, LCPL is launching a webpage dedicated to pet‑related resources: library.loudoun.gov/pets
“Loudoun County Animal Services and Loudoun County Public Library have been partnering for years on community programs that embrace a love for pets and learning, so the book vending machine was a natural step,” said Nina Stively, director of LCAS. “We look forward to welcoming new visitors to the animal shelter, where they can borrow a book and walk through to meet our animals, seven days a week.”
