Loudoun County Public Library operations update regarding COVID-19

All Loudoun County Public Library locations are closed until further notice to help reduce the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19). Please check this page for updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience.

Other updates:

  • The due date for all physical items checked out from branches has been extended to June 20.
  • Outdoor book returns are closed. Customers should keep any items until the library reopens or until June 20.
  • Items will remain on hold while the library is closed to the public.
  • Anyone without a library card can sign up online for a temporary card, valid for six months.
  • All programs, events and meeting room reservations are suspended through at least June 10.
  • Outreach deliveries to senior living facilities and nursing homes are suspended.
  • WiFi signals have been amplified at the Lovettsville, Middleburg and Purcellville branches to allow for in-car use. Signals are available 24/7 from anywhere in the parking lots to access information about COVID-19 and complete any other type of essential online business, such as ordering groceries or other household supplies. WiFi users who are not in vehicles are also asked to maintain a distance of approximately 6 feet from others. 
  • Virtual programs now available: While in-person events are on hold, LCPL is working to provide you with virtual storytimes as well as other programs of interest for adults and teens. Visit our event calendar to learn more.
  • While branches are closed, customers are encouraged to explore the library’s vast selection of eBooks and online resources (please see below).
  • The limit on Hoopla borrows has been increased to 10 items per month (up from six items per month).
  • The limit on OverDrive holds and borrows has been increased to 15 titles (up from 10 at a time).
  • Access to Ancestry.com Library Edition is now available from home. 
  • All blocks have been removed from customer accounts to allow for the use of online resources.
