Winner of both an Academy Award and the Peabody Award. Producer Steven Okazaki uses the memoirs of Estelle Peck Ishigo to recreate the shattering experience of relocation to a World War II Japanese-American internment camp. 28 minutes.

This powerful PBS documentary shares the experiences
and issues of six Japanese Americans who were just children when they were incarcerated in internment camps during World War II. Of the 120,000 Americans of Japanese descent who were interned, more than half were children. 60 minutes.

PEARL HARBOR AND THE JAPANESE INTERNMENT CAMPS:
A Discussion led by Christopher Hamner, Associate Professor of History at George Mason University
Hamner’s teaching interests include war and the American society, and the individual’s experience of combat. He serves as Lead Historian for two Teaching American History programs in Virginia and Maryland.
