OverDrive Media Console Update for iOS

If you use OMC to read eBooks on an Apple device, you may have an unpleasant surprise the next time you open the app. A change in Apple's privacy policies means that you will have to re-authorize your Adobe ID. You'll see a pop-up screen asking you to log on with your already-existing password. If you've forgotten the password, you can follow the usual "Forgot password?" link.

Audiobook users don't have to re-authorize, but you may get an error message if you try to download parts of an audiobook that you started before the update. The message will direct you to start your download all over again.

Hachette eBooks @ your library

Another major publisher gets with the program as Hachette Group agrees to make all its eBook titles available to libraries.  Starting May 8th, bestselling authors such as James Patterson, David Sedaris, and Sandra Brown will have a much-expanded presence in our OverDrive catalog.  Good news all around!

Kindle Fire price drop

The case for moving your eBook reading to a tablet just got a little more compelling as Amazon drops the price on its high-end Kindle Fire tablets. The 8.9" 4G LTE Wireless now starts at $399, while the regular old 8.9" high def model can be yours for as little as $269. Not exactly chump change, but at least they're not in the iPad's price league.
