Outreach Services

What is Outreach Services?

Outreach Services is the traveling branch of the Loudoun County Public Library, serving those who cannot easily access branch libraries by delivering library materials through visits and the Books-By-Mail program.

Outreach Services staff visit senior centers, independent and assisted living facilities, and nursing homes throughout Loudoun County on a regular schedule. Librarians bring a full variety of materials including large print books and magazines, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks – and smiles.

Residents choose from a wide selection of genres, ranging from old-time favorites to current best-sellers, and may request items online or with the assistance of the visiting librarians. Either way, the library items are delivered, checked-out and returned by Outreach Services staff.

Outreach Services Programs:

Senior Visits: Outreach Services visits senior living facilities and senior lunch sites to deliver library materials and to provide assistance selecting and requesting library materials and information.

Nursing Homes, Day Centers and Detention Facilities: Outreach Services visits nursing homes, Adult Day Centers and the County Juvenile Detention Facility to deliver pre-selected and requested library materials.

Books-By-Mail: Through postage free service, Outreach Services mails large print books and audiovisual materials to customers who are physically unable to visit the library due to age, disability, or illness whether permanent or temporary. Click here to obtain a copy of the Books-By-Mail Application.

Who is eligible for Outreach Services?

Children and adult residents of Loudoun County who meet library service guidelines may be eligible. Call Virginia LaRocque, Outreach Services Manager, to discuss library guidelines and eligibility requirements: 703-771-5621 or email LibraryOutreach@loudoun.gov.
